Someone suggested the character to me, and Kasumi was always my favorite in the DOA series.

There were 3 versions of this costume till I lost the last one and gave up. I think this character is cursed. I tried various things like making the dress in the style of a house coat with the sash would hold it. I even got Neko to help me. We tried making the outfit like a jacket that snapped into the belt and the belt had the skirt attached. In the end the housecoat method with some snaps and ties worked the best and adding the belt in last. The shin and arm guards were craft foam covered in fabric. Like almost all Kasumi cosplayers, I went with the white gogo boots for the aesthetic of it and the height needed to get those long DOA legs. In these shots I used a live metal Katana, but I had also purchased the wakizashi type blade from a Toys r Us Ninja kit. I drafted up the Kanji in Photoshop and took it to a silk screen place. I didn’t want to run the risk of a disaster with paint.

Kasumi is always popular! I finally got the whole thing complete and wore it to Anime Boston, and I guess something happened and the costume went missing from my hotel room. I’m so completely disappointed I never did get a good set of shots in this when I finally got the auburn wig. I’m always on the lookout for hotel maids who might be wearing my Kasumi costume to a convention. If I find her you can bet I’m going all spider monkey on her ass.
