I’m sure a lot of cosplayers have this dilemma: you see an outfit and you know it’s a hot mess. This was exactly the case with this outfit. I hadn’t seen the anime when I saw the outfit, but I just fell in love with it. After watching the series (it was fun but mediocre at best) I was still determined to add this costume to my closet.

I wanted to really ground this costume; the animation colors were already a bit over the top, so I wanted to choose more muted colors. The way I try to address the costume is make something that the artist may have looked at when he drew the costume.

Jacket/Skirt: I picked out some Purple gabardine, and some orange suede to the trim. There is a white under dress, another smaller skirt with the purple gauze and then the dark purple skirt.. Since I wanted the tailoring so clean on this costume I took it to Sean who could do a much better job than me!

Jewels: The larger blue jewel pieces are sculpted and cast, the buttons I just bought, but I made sure to make button holes so it looked like they were functional rather than just floating above the fabric

Wig: Ordered from Cyprous wigs and realized it was WAY to long. I highly suggest that if you have a wig that falls below you butt, you trim it to your butt, because in photos it'll look like you have a tail. Also its much easier to manage. Unless the character has iconic long hair.

Socks: Ordered from www.welovecolors.com. Still weren't the right color and ended up trying to hand dye them, and even went so far as to hit them with some paint. Which I don't recommend. If you can dye them stick with that.

A few people recognize who I am, but I’m glad to mark this costume off my list.
